Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship in Biology
College of the Holy Cross
The Department of Biology at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for an Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship in Biology to begin in August 2010. Candidates will normally be within three years of their doctorate and must demonstrate commitment to undergraduate teaching as well as scholarly achievement. Candidate's research interests may be in either behavioral energetics or terrestrial arthropods or the biochemistry of proteins related to cell adhesion, migration and/or mechanotransduction. Teaching opportunities will be in an area suitable to the candidate's background and will involve some combination of introductory or upper level courses for biology majors and courses for non-science majors. This full-time fellowship appointment is for two years. The fellow will teach three courses per year and is expected to extend his/her doctoral research under the guidance of a tenured faculty member. Fellows have access to funds to support research and travel, are offered the opportunity to enroll in courses offered by the Colleges of Worcester Consortiums' Certificate in College Teaching Program, and also participate in a faculty development program that fosters excellence in teaching and scholarship. The fellowship offers a competitive salary and includes full benefits.
